Telephone wires are easy to work with and very safe due to the low voltages involved. The most complex part of installing telephone wires is complying with the defined standards. When installing additional telephone wires into an existing facility, it is usually best to determine which telephone wiring standard is currently in use and conform to that standard. How the Wire Gets into a Residence Historically, telephone companies ran telephone wires above ground with telephone poles to make wire issues easy to repair.
Above Ground Wiring In older neighborhoods s and earlier in the US and areas that have a high water table, telephone wiring is most likely above ground. There is one or more telephone poles in easement areas in the neighborhood that distribute phone service wire pairs to residences with an aerial connection method.
A breakout box is attached to the pole, with the main service lines for the area entering in one side and residential lines running out of the other side. Wires are then run from the breakout boxes to each neighborhood residence.
How Telephones Work
Two wires normally referred to as a “pair” are needed for most telephone connections. One of the wires in a pair is referred to as the “tip” and the other is called the “ring”. Color code schemes are used to identify wires within a cable. You may encounter two different wire color schemes while working on your phone wiring.
The simplest color scheme is used on normal station cable what your phone tech may call “JK” , which has only two pairs of wire. The first pair has one green wire “tip” and one red wire “ring”.
Unfortunately, the simple answer here is “no.” Verizon Wireless Home Phone Connect’s FAQs indicate that it “doesn’t support incoming or outgoing fax services.” Now, that question is referring to whether or not the service will work with a traditional fax machine.
Not just an extension to your current phone, but another line with its own number. It could be used as the kids’ phone or reserved for home business or Internet use. And all the while your original phone line will remain open for making and receiving calls. Installing a new phone line is surprisingly easy and safe. Phone wires carry a very weak electrical charge and you’ll only need a few basic tools to complete the job.
But best of all, most of the wiring needed to connect a second phone line is already in your home. The telephone cable in your house right now contains at least four wires, but only two of them are connected to your current phone.

It’s a great way to add an additional phone jack to a spot in your house where you’ve always wanted one. Save yourself a bunch of money on labor and travel charges the phone company would tack onto your bill, and do it yourself. Step 1 Locate the outside phone line box on your house. It should be centrally located. You may have to follow the interior phone wiring to locate it, but it should be pretty obvious to find.
Lift the panel of the phone line box upward. Step 2 Lift the clasp holding the black plug into the test jack.

Male The JJ’s are well built and a good design. I’ve been having a lot of fun with mine on the ice. Some days it out fishes me, but other days the fish pick up the lure and I see the line moving and the JJ hasn’t tripped so I bump the trigger and it sets the hook. There is a fine line on setting the trigger weight between too light and premature trips and too heavy so the fish won’t trip it, but I’m quite happy with how they work.
I bought a second unit for company to use or for trips to states that allow more than two poles. If the fish aren’t hitting dead stick baits they won’t catch much, but most of the time they will get a few. Good product, will caution you to get a ice rod that can take the bending, I only have a couple that work well on the JJ. Would you recommend this product to a friend? Yes Was this review helpful? Works Great, check out the video. MrKokeCrazy I have enjoyed this product for the past two ice fishing seasons.
It has held up well and is build nicely. I have caught numerous fish with this.
